Actually, our students never had to yell, "Fore" because it was a putting practice day, but safety was the number one priority. Thanks to a generous donation last year and our Carpenter PE teachers' willingness to complete some extra professional development, our new PE golf unit is underway. Seen in the picture is Mr. Tom helping a 3rd grade student develop an appropriate putting stance. The students learned about foot and arm positioning, grip, and appropriate club follow through as one part of our golf unit. Mr. Tom spent much of the lesson reinforcing the importance of safety and turn-taking with the students. Much like on a golf course, players must learn to take turns and also keep safe distances from others who are taking practice swings. Be careful parents, your children may soon be surpassing your scores at mini-golf or on the real courses!
