Each year, Emerson teams choose to engage in a service learning project. This year, the entire seventh grade has chosen to learn about Alzheimer's Disease and help the organization, Without Warning, which is a support group for young onset Alzheimer's Disease (<60 years old). Today, half of the seventh grade students listened and asked questions to a panel consisting of two people with young onset Alzheimers and two supporting family members. On Thursday, the other half of the grade level will participate in a similar event. I am so proud of the respectful way our students responded to the speakers and the questions they asked.
Since Without Warning is a non-profit organization, and looks to bring about awareness of young onset Alzheimers, the group will be selling student designed t-shirts and participating in at least one other fundraiser to support this organization.
