Hoops for Heart News - 2016

This year marked the fifth annual Hoops for Heart Basketball Tournament for both Emerson and Lincoln Middle School.  This is an event for students to be active, have fun, and support a wonderful organization, the American Heart Association (AHA).  The Physical Education Departments from each middle school ran a basketball tournament at their respective schools.  Following, a date was planned for a crosstown match-up of the two top teams from each grade level.  This year on Thursday, March 3rd, Lincoln traveled to Emerson looking for some healthy competition.  The first place teams for each grade/school are below:

  • 6th Gr. Girls → Lincoln “Team 2”
  • 6th Gr. Boys → Lincoln “Team 12”
  • 7th Gr. Boys → Emerson “Gamers”
  • 8th Gr. Girls → Emerson “Blues Clues”
  • 8th Gr. Boys → Emerson “Paper”

Together, Emerson and Lincoln raised $1035.00 for the AHA to help further research and awareness of heart disease.  Congratulations to both schools for the most successful event to date!
