Welcome Message from Superintendent Eric Olson
Dear District 64 Families:
On behalf of the Board of Education, administration, and staff, welcome to the 2019-20 school year! We are happy that you’ve made District 64 your education destination, and we cannot wait for another exciting year of teaching and learning to begin. Since July 1, when I officially took over as Superintendent, it’s been my pleasure to meet so many of our families, staff and community members. All have welcomed me warmly and have bragged about our proud District and community. Thank you for letting me be a part of it!
If you are new to District 64, our goal is to support you and your children as you transition to a new community. To our returning families, welcome back! While it’s been impressive to see the amount of construction completed this summer, the halls just aren’t the same without the buzz of students and staff starting a new year. Next week is certainly an exciting time in the life of our District, and at last it’s only a few days away.
We look forward to seeing the smiling faces of our first through eighth graders on Monday, August 26 for a full day of school. Kindergarten students will participate in their orientation on Monday, August 26. This day is designed to ease our younger students into school and help foster relationships with classmates and their teacher in a smaller setting. Their first regular day of kindergarten will be Tuesday, August 27.
On Tuesday, August 27, our pre-K students and parents/guardians will have a “meet and greet” and will follow a regular schedule beginning on Wednesday, August 28. Our Extended Day Kindergarten program for those who are enrolled will begin on Tuesday. We look forward to once again having almost 4,600 eager learners filling our classrooms!
While there are so many talented staff members here to partner with you in your child’s learning, please know that I am also available to answer questions or help in any way I can. If I can ever be of assistance in helping you make this year the best one ever, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Thank you again for choosing to make Park Ridge-Niles your home, and for sharing your children with us. We look forward to learning and growing with them and you this year!
Sincerely,
Dr. Eric Olson, Superintendent
