Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 will host an information night for those interested in running for a seat on the School Board in the April 2021 election.
The District 64 administration will host the ABC’s of School Board Service from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14. This virtual event is designed to allow community members an opportunity to ask questions about the logistics of running for office, the job of being a school board member, and the time commitment, challenges and rewards of being involved.
District 64 will have four, 4-year seats to be elected in 2021. School Board elections are non-partisan.
The program will offer information about what it’s like to contribute to your local public schools in this important way. It will answer questions such as:
- How long are the terms?
- How often does the School Board meet?
- Is there training provided for School Board service?
- What are the residency requirements?
- What are the responsibilities?
- What is the process to become a candidate?
A short overview of Board duties and the election process will be presented, followed by an opportunity to ask questions of Superintendent Eric Olson and current Board members Carol Sales and Dr. Denise Pearl (whose terms will not expire in the spring).
Watch for more information about this event and other election resources on the District 64 Board Election web page.
