District 64 celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week May 4-8

Each year, District 64 invites families and community members to acknowledge our teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4-8), and especially on National Teacher Day -- Tuesday, May 5.

We know the Park Ridge-Niles community values quality education and in particular, the outstanding contributions our teachers make to guide and develop each student to reach his or her full potential. We hope you will take a moment to send a note of thanks to the teaching staff for their efforts.

In addition, we ask that you remember our school health assistants and nurses on School Nurse Day (Wednesday, May 6), too!

School PTO/As organize many appreciation events this week to acknowledge staff members for their special efforts. On behalf of the entire school, PTO/As plan breakfasts or lunches, or offer special treats for teachers and staff to enjoy.

In addition, PTO/As reach out to students and families to help them share good wishes.  Parents may organize an "appreciation station" at lunch for students to write a message of thanks to their teachers. Or they may ask students or families to write a short note at home to share with a teacher around a specific school-wide theme, such as "Our Teachers Are #1." Or students may create poems or messages around the theme of "appreciation".  PTO/As may also enlist students on craft projects to create a special banner or display at the school.

District 64 welcomes and thanks our PTO/As, families, students and community members for your kind gestures of support for our dedicated teachers, especially during Teacher Appreciation Week 2015.
