Selfless Emerson 8th graders hold cupcake fundraiser on promotion day

Literally hours before they are promoted from 8th grade, a group of big-hearted Emerson Middle School students are still focused on helping others as they conduct one last fundraiser. Students have organized an afternoon visit from the Cupcakes for Courage Cupcake Truck on Tuesday, May 31, which is also the evening they will be promoted to high school.

An incredible 1,210 cupcakes -- that's more than a 100 dozen! -- have been pre-ordered for students to take home. Parent volunteers will need about an hour to sort the veritable sea of cupcakes, including inspirational flavors like Survivor and Courage, to more traditional Strawberry Shortcake, Cookies and Cream, Maple Bacon, and Banana Cream Pie.

In addition, the Cupcake Truck will have another 400 cupcakes on hand for direct sales to students from the truck parked out in front of the main entry after school lets out.

Each cupcake sold will generate $2 for local Lutheran General Hospital's Cancer Care Center.

What a sweet way to end their school years in District 64!
