Community comments welcomed on 2016-17 budget

The District 64 Board of Education has approved a tentative budget for 2016-17, which has been placed on public display and is available on the District 64 website. The document is available in two sections - Part A and Part B.

Comments from community members about the 2016-17 budget are welcomed. Here are the key steps in the budget process and opportunities for public input:

  • The tentative budget for 2016-17 was explored in detail at a Committee-of-the-Whole on June 13, 2016, before it was adopted on July 18, 2016.
  • The 2015-16 year-end financials (unaudited) were reported at the August 22 Board meeting, and will now be incorporated into an updated draft for further review and discussion at the September 12 Committee-of-the-Whole meeting at 7:00 p.m. at Jefferson School (multipurpose room), 8200 Greendale, Niles. Public comments are welcomed at the COW meeting, or during the special Board meeting that follows at 8:00 p.m.
  • A public hearing will be held at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, September 26 at Roosevelt School (north gym), 1001 S. Fairview, Park Ridge.
  • The budget is scheduled for adoption at the regular September 26 meeting beginning at 7:00 p.m.; comments also are invited at that meeting.

Comments or questions may always be directed to Superintendent Laurie Heinz or Chief School Business Official Luann Kolstad, or directly to members of the Board of Education.
