What a day! I have been completely amazed by the outpouring of generosity to conquer childhood cancers. With our sister school Emerson we raised nearly $420,000! A lesson I believe our students took away from this is the power of collective effort - particularly the positive use of social media. Unfortunately, many middle schoolers too often see the negative side of social media - bullying, and sometimes depression and anxiety driven by a sense of exclusion. St. Baldrick's showed what a powerful tool social media can be to rally people to a cause. We received donations from friends and family members from all over becuase we got the word out to a broad audience. I will be forever grateful for the tremendous effort our students made to make this the biggest school St. Baldrick's event ever!
