Dear Lincoln Community,
It's been a great first full week of school. Monday afternoon, students and staff were treated to an assembly featuring Jim "Basketball" Jones - courtesy of our PTO. He put on a fun show, involving many students, and delivered a strong message about overcoming obstacles and achieving goals. He regularly referred to ROARS: our school-wide expectations for behavior.
ROARS stands for:
Respect yourself and others;
Offer Empathy;
Act Safely; be
Responsible for your learning; and
Show Self-Control
As I tell students at 6th grade orientation every year, when you live by ROARS, you make not only your Lincoln experience better, you make everyone's Lincoln experience better.
Speaking of a better experience, students have been eager to join our TLCs (Teen Leisure Clubs). To create a club, all students need to do is find at least six classmates with a common interest, and a staff member to supervise their activities. This allows us to offer a wide variety of extracurricular activities throughout the year. Our clubs for first trimester are:
Video Game Club meets Fridays w/ Mrs. Manzi
Chess Club meets Fridays w/ Mr. Widing
Soup Kitchen (Feed My Starving Children) meets on the first Thursday of the month w/ Mrs. Sebo & Mrs. Manzi
Star Wars Club meets Tuesdays w/ Mrs. Chesney
8th Grade Woods TBA w/ Mr. Szaflarski
Electricity & Electronics Club meets Thursdays w/ Mr. Moore
Magic: The Gathering gathers on Fridays w/ Mrs. Bruton
Manufacturing Co. meets Tuesdays w/ Mr. Moore
Note: Students should see the Lincoln Staff member for room location & other details.
