Parent University Talk Spotlights Concussion Awareness & Student Safety

As concussions among young athletes garner headlines nationwide, Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 is hosting a “Parent University” evening focusing on concussion prevention and student safety on Monday, October 27 from 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. at Field School (Auditorium), 707 N. Wisner, Park Ridge.  The evening is free and all adult community members are invited to attend.

Guest speaker Dr. Elizabeth Pieroth from NorthShore University Health System will describe what concussions are and how they impact growing children, and will review how return to play is appropriate and safe for the injured young athlete.  Plenty of time for Q & A is planned.  District 64 also has invited representatives from Accelerated Rehabilitation Centers to join this parent education session.

Parents and community members also are encouraged to stay at Field School following the session to attend the regular monthly Board of Education meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m.
