District 64 Superintendent Laurie Heinz has shared new winter closing guidelines with all families and staff for 2015-16.
"I have been working with the Superintendents of our neighboring elementary and high school districts to provide clearer direction on when we will close schools specifically related to cold weather," Dr. Heinz reported. "The guidelines use the distinction between a wind-chill advisory and a wind-chill warning (as defined by the National Weather Service) when cold weather is the primary factor," she noted.
"The safety of students and staff remains our top priority, and we hope these updated winter guidelines will be more useful to families and staff in District 64 and all our neighboring districts," she added.
