“Emotionally Intelligent Parenting: How to Raise a Self-Disciplined, Responsible, Socially Skilled Child” by Elias, Tobias, and Friedlander will be the basis for parent discussion facilitated by District 64 staff on Tuesday, February 24 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Washington School (Learning Resource Center), 1500 Stewart, Park Ridge. (A previously scheduled night on February 2 was cancelled due to snow.)
Plan on coming to discuss:
- learn how to communicate so your children will THINK
- apply the five principles of emotional intelligence to successful parenting
- address everyday parenting issues, such as self-control, homework, bedtimes, getting out of the house in the morning, car rides, dishonesty, social issues, and school situations
- and, help your child develop independence and make better (emotionally intelligent) choices.
The book is available for purchase online as an inexpensive paperback or ebook. Parents do not need to have attended the earlier Parent University program on this subject, which was made possible through an ELF grant.
The program will be facilitated by District 64 Curriculum Specialist Camille Derwin and Assistant Superintendent for Student Learning Lori Lopez.
