With school board elections coming up in April 2017, District 64 is again offering an opportunity to explore the “A-B-C’s of School Board Service ” with fellow residents who have served on the Board.
District 64 is hosting an informal coffee on Wednesday, October 12 from 7-8 p.m.for anyone interested in considering Board service now or in the future. The meeting location has been changed to Roosevelt School (Learning Resource Center), 1001 S. Fairview, Park Ridge.
A short overview of Board duties and the election process will be presented, followed by an open Q & A with several current and past Board members.
The evening is designed to allow community members an opportunity to talk with fellow community members to get a feel for the time commitment, challenges and rewards that may not be evident from reading the formal list of responsibilities.
District 64 has established a webpage dedicated to the 2017 Board Election with further resources about what it's like to contribute to your local public schools in this important way.
A candidate for an Illinois school board must be at least 18 years old, must have lived in the school district for at least one year, and must be a registered voter. The filing period for candidates is December 12-19, 2016.
District 64 residents will be electing four individuals to serve 4-year terms on April 4, 2017.
No RSVP or registration is required to attend the informal coffee.
