District 64 grades 1-5 students will have the opportunity beginning Tuesday, September 5 to enjoy a new daily hot lunch program being introduced at all elementary schools for 2017-18. The District is partnering with Quest Food Management Services Inc. to provide complete, high quality hot meals for the elementary schools as well as the middle schools.
We are also pleased to announce that as part of our District-wide sustainability initiatives, food composting will be introduced at all our school lunch rooms this year, too.
Here are the details for the elementary schools:
- Hot lunch service is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 5. Hot lunch will be available four days per week. Two menu options will be available each day -- both include a seasonal fresh fruit and veggie bar -- along with a choice of milk/water at a cost of $4.40. The first order deadline for hot lunch will be due on Wednesday, August 30 for the full week ahead -- Tuesday, September 5 through Friday, September 8.
- Milk and water are already available daily and also must be pre-ordered.
- As the school year continues, Wednesdays will always be the order cut-off for the next full week ahead for the hot lunch or for milk/water. For your convenience, orders may be placed a month in advance.
- One day per week, our elementary PTO/As will continue to sponsor a pizza lunch as a school fundraiser. Consult your PTO/A website for ordering information.
- Menus by school and ordering information are now available on the District 64 Elementary School Lunch webpage. To ensure your child will want and enjoy the hot lunch you purchase, we encourage you to discuss meal options with your child. As your child has an opportunity to experience the menu offerings in the coming weeks, please talk over your child’s preferences as you place future orders.
- To order lunch or beverages, please follow the directions available on the lunch webpage to use the new myMealOrder ordering and payment system. You will need your student’s ID number to enter the system and create your account. The student ID number was provided on the 2017-18 classroom assignment letter mailed home in August. It was also printed on your child’s Report Card.
- We urge you to please also take a few minutes to review answers to a range of Elementary - Frequently Asked Questions about the new program as we get started. Or feel free to contact our Quest Food Service Director Lindsey Borchers or 847-962-9957.
Here are the details for our middle schools:

- Monthly menus are available on the District 64 Middle School Lunch webpage.
- The daily hot lunch includes the entree, fruit and veggie bar, and milk/water. The cost is $4.30.
- Extensive a la carte offerings are also available. A price list is linked on the webpage.
- Students may continue to use cash at the register or you may establish a MySchoolBucks account for your child to use via the pinpad at check-out. The link to MySchoolBucks is available on the webpage.
