Highlights of the Committee-of-the-Whole: Facilities meeting include:
- Summer 2018 wrap up on $8.3 million in facilities projects - The Board reviewed the projects completed over the summer as part of the District's Health Life Safety/Master Facilities Plan, which is focused on ensuring that all buildings are "safe, warm and dry." View details of the summer 2018 projects here.
- Plans for additional summer 2019 projects reviewed - The Board viewed renderings of the proposed office reconfigurations with secure entries for Carpenter, Franklin and Field schools. Two concepts were discussed for Field; the District will return at an upcoming meeting with additional approaches to the entry along with further research about existing space within the school that could potentially be converted for instructional use. The Board also considered new, additional projects identified since the initial group of summer 2019 projects was approved for preparation of construction bids. These included an HVAC project at Lincoln; water piping at Field; and a joint project with the Park District to add a second gymnasium at Washington. The District will return with further information about the current utilization of Washington's gym at an upcoming meeting.
- Financing alternatives for future facilities work presented - Elizabeth Hennessy of Raymond James met with the Board to review funding for the summer 2019 and 2020 facilities projects being considered. The plan includes the potential issuance of just over $20 million in working cash fund bonds over two years, as part of the Board's existing authorization created through a financial framework put in place in spring 2017.
