Suspicious Incident Announcements & Alerts
When District 64 is notified by local police about suspicious incidents, we will send an email message via our School Messenger service. If police believe the information has met its threshold for a formal alert, we will activate the automated phone message service.
Emergency Communications
Phone Alert System
District 64 subscribes to an automated phone alert system, which allows a recorded message to be distributed to all parents/guardians and staff within a very short period of time. The system utilizes the phone numbers parents and staff have provided to the school and District as their official contact information. Please make sure you have provided your school office with accurate information so you can be reached. This is the primary means of communication in an emergency.
Email Messages
District 64 schools send frequent email messages to parents/guardians utilizing the contact information in the student database. Please remember to update your email addresses with the school office, so that you do not miss out on school newsletters, health notices, and other important announcements and updates.
School Winter Closings
When schools must close due to winter weather, these announcements are posted on the District's website, and an announcement is placed on the main District telephone line (847-318-4300). Closings also are posted on www.emergencyclosingcenter.com, and are broadcast on most local TV and radio stations.
In addition, District 64 will activate an automated phone message service to call all homes when a decision to switch to full remote learning is made for inclement weather, typically before 6:00 a.m. for snow emergencies.
