Safety & Security
Enhancements
District 64 continues:
- Staff Badges - Expectation To Wear at ALL Times
- Colored Lanyards for Fast Visual Identification
- Raptor Visitor Management System for Check-In
- Additional Exterior Cameras Added and Large Format Monitors in All Offices (Sightlines to Entries and Passages to Office)
This list assumes all current practices instituted from the RETA physical security report remain in place, such as the Raptor visitor management system for all visitors, exterior cameras at main entrances, use of electronic card readers by staff, and other items have been implemented:
- Staff Supervision at Drop-Off and Pick-Up
- Emergency Notifications and Alerts
- Access Control - Staff use key fobs to enter the buildings, students have limited ways to enter the building, guests/parents enter through secure vestibule, vendors must be background checked
- Background checks - volunteers, chaperones and coaches that have direct student access are fingerprinted and put through a background check
- All delivery personnel must ring the front bell and announce their name and company. If deliveries are too large to use main door custodial staff will meet the delivery personnel at the appropriate door and stay with them while they deliver materials
- Perimeter of Schools/Playgrounds (before/after school, recess, PE)
- Staff will inform the office when they intend to take students outside. Staff will bring a walkie-talkie outside with them. Staff - to - student ratios will be such that staff can actively supervise all students while outside
- Active Supervision will become a standard practice. This means each supervisor has a quadrant to watch. The supervisor continually moves throughout the quadrant to interact with students and scan the grounds
- Protocols will be developed, with the help of First Responders and NIPSTA, to handle emergencies where classes are outside
