The Emerson Philharmonic Orchestra, Emerson Concert Band, and the Emerson/Lincoln Honors Chorus and Show Choir performed and competed at the 2019 Music in the Parks Festival at Warren Township High School on May 4. Following the performances, the students and teachers spent the day at Great America where the groups met for an exciting awards ceremony!
D64's students performed with distinction:
- Emerson Philharmonic Orchestra received an "Excellent" rating, and took home 1st place in the competition for the second year in a row!
Emerson Concert Band took home 2nd place in their division! - Emerson/Lincoln Honors Chorus received an "Excellent" rating and took home 2nd place.
- Emerson/Lincoln Show Choir received a "Superior" rating and took home 1st place in their division!
D64's student groups collectively also were awarded the very prestigious Esprit de Corps Award. According to the Music in the Parks Festival, "The Esprit de Corps Award recognizes the participating organization that displays an exemplary attitude of positive support and outstanding personal behavior throughout the festival weekend. Personal integrity, quality character values, a desire for excellence, and a spirit of cooperation serve as the cornerstone qualities of the Esprit de Corps Award."
"All groups had outstanding performances and the students should be applauded for their hard work, dedication, and representing our District so well," according to their very proud teachers Erica Faulhaber, Alex Teater, Terry Broeker, Mike Kennedy and Alyssa LaTragna.
