Did you know that D64 schools had composting?

Compost Sort Station at Lincoln Middle School

Students can compost their food waste instead of just throwing it away. This helps keep food scraps out of the landfill, where it creates methane, and turns it into fertilizer to grow more food.

Students can compost:

  • All food
  • Food-soiled paper like dirty napkins, pizza boxes, and paper plates
  • Paper lunch bags without stickers

Empty drink containers like milk cartons or plastic water bottles and other recyclable packaging can still go in recycling. Check out this video to see how it works

If you’d like to compost at home, Collective Resource offers composting services to Park Ridge residents at a discounted rate. Or learn how to compost in your backyard

Together We Discover, Learn, Grow & Care

At D64, our mission is to foster opportunities for discovery, engagement, and growth for all students. We accomplish this by nurturing interdependence, appreciation of differences, and care for self and others.
