Washington student Brianna Stach and Lincoln student Dominick Judge are D64 Shining Stars! We were thrilled to be able to celebrate Stach and Judge at the December Board of Education meeting.
Stach and Judge were recently honored with the Yes I Can Awards from the Illinois Division of Council for Exceptional Children. One of the purposes of the award is to encourage individuals to seek their highest potential and to increase public awareness of the abilities, aspirations, and personal qualities of people with exceptionalities. Our D64 students won in the Transition category, highlighting their success in mastering skills that facilitate smooth transitions into school.
Director of Student Services Alicia Schmeisser shared a little about the Stach and Judge nominations. “Brianna increased time during her academic day in the general education classroom setting, as well as participated in Washington’s extracurricular activities in volleyball and orchestra.”
“Dominick made growth in becoming a good friend to his peers, and he joined the Lincoln wrestling team and cross country team,” said Schmeisser. “We’re so excited that you are being recognized for your advancement and participation in the general education setting as a result of your self-regulation.”
In November, our students were also recognized during an award ceremony and luncheon at the ICEC fall convention. “Congratulations to Brianna and Dominick! We’re so excited to be able to celebrate and recognize you both at our Board meeting as well,” said Schmeisser.
Way to go to Stach and Judge for their achievements and contributions, which not only earned them the Yes I Can Awards but also the D64 Shining Stars!
