Dear District 64 Families,
I am following up on my earlier message on the incoming winter weather. We have decided that tomorrow, Wednesday, February 12, will be a normal school day. Schools will get out at the typical Wednesday dismissal times.
Safety is always our top priority, and we understand that conditions may vary for each family. Parents always have the option of keeping their children home for safety reasons on these snow and cold days, and if you choose to do so, please make sure to notify the school office.
These decisions are hard to make, and 48-72 hours before a severe weather event, we receive decision packets and information from the National Weather Service. They host daily webinars that provide up-to-the-hour updates on their prediction models. I also speak to all area Superintendents in the hours before making a decision and go with the best data we have at the time.
Please also remember that if there is inclement weather tomorrow afternoon, transportation will be slower than usual.
We still have school, but all after-school activities and meetings are canceled for tomorrow, Wednesday, February 12. This means that Beyond the Bell is also canceled after school tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ben Collins
Superintendent
