Carpenter student Genevieve Suh and School Technologist Ben Pfander are the D64 Shining Stars for April! It was great to recognize these two outstanding individuals at the April School Board meeting.
Carpenter Principal Brett Balduf and Assistant Principal Sean Degman shared their excitement in highlighting these members of the Carpenter community.
Fifth-grader Genevieve stands out among the 435 students at Carpenter with her consistently positive impact. Genevieve’s 3rd Grade Teacher, Mrs. Norman, said this about her former student, “You are always ready and willing to help others at school. And not only are you always ready and willing to do it, you do it with a smile on your face.”
“Any day you get to see Genevieve at Carpenter is a better day because she is someone with such a positive attitude. She uplifts other people around her. She's so helpful,” said Carpenter Art Teacher Mrs. Bianchi. One of her classmates added, “Genevieve is the best because she's super helpful, Kind. Every time she sees us, she gives us a hug and she’s the most supportive.”
The Channels of Challenge team joined in on the celebration, stating that Genevieve truly makes Carpenter a better place. “You are so dependable and always volunteering for classroom helper jobs, and always doing your job with such care. You're a natural-born leader. You always offer to help before you even think to ask for it,” said Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Sacor.
Ben Pfander joined Carpenter this year but has already made a significant impact on the school climate and culture. Ben is described as a hard worker who is approachable and thoughtful. He is always pleasant and will drop everything to help in the moment.
Felix, a Kindergartener at Carpenter, said, “Mr. Ben is the best because he is nice and he fixes our iPads.”
“Ben is always quick to respond to staff requests for support. He embraces learning and problem-solving in his role as a technologist at Carpenter. He's always welcoming to teachers and students who come to him for help, and he is a great collaborator and member of the tech team at Carpenter,” said Instructional Coach Mr. Michael.
Ben is considered truly invaluable. He tackles issues quickly, big or small, without complaint. His positivity, reliability, and quiet patience make him an absolute rock for the team.
Thank you to Genevieve and Ben for being such great members of the Carpenter and D64 community!
