Health and Wellness Resources

In District 64, we regularly support our students through individual and group counseling as well as our social-emotional learning programs so that students are able to engage in all that school has to offer.

If parents have additional concerns about their students, they can reach out to the building principals and nurses for assistance.

Erin’s Law in Illinois requires all school districts to educate children in public schools on sexual abuse prevention through an age-appropriate curriculum. The District has incorporated this curriculum into the existing Science and Health units at all of our schools. The first step in helping abused or neglected children is learning to recognize the signs of child abuse and neglect. The presence of a single sign does not prove child abuse is occurring in a family, but a closer look at the situation may be warranted when these signs appear repeatedly or in combination. For help in recognizing child abuse or neglect, please visit DCFS Safe Kids.

All District 64 employees are state-mandated reporters and are required to report allegations of abuse and/or neglect to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).

The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) provides and maintains the Faith’s Law Resource Guide for pupils, parents/guardians, and teachers, which has sexual abuse responses and prevention resources available in their community. Also included is the contact information of entities that provide services for victims of child sexual abuse and their families.

District 64’s employee ethics and code of professional conduct policy, Board Policy 5:120, was updated to comply with Faith’s Law.

In compliance with the Illinois School Code, District 64 annually submits a Restraints, Timeout and Isolated Timeout (RTO) reduction plan to the Illinois State Board of Education.

A Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) must be developed by the IEP team for students whose behaviors impact their learning and who require the use of systemic and restrictive interventions.
