The District 64 School Board at its April 1 meeting approved to spend $1.4 million on heating and cooling systems at Carpenter Elementary School. The work will be completed during the summer months. In addition, the Board approved a $105,565 expenditure to replace flooring in areas impacted by the HVAC work.
The Board will hire Construction Solutions of Illinois for the work, based on its lowest responsible bid. The flooring project was awarded to the lowest responsible bid from Michael Kautz Carpets and Designs.
Asbestos abatement work at the school was also part of the HVAC and flooring project It was approved previously by the School Board at a cost of $100,600. A portion of this work was completed over spring break in March and will be completed when construction starts in June 2021.
