We celebrated a Franklin Elementary School student and two staff members as part of our monthly award, the D64 Shining Star. The honorees exemplify our District mission and are great members of the D64 community! Principals Appreciation Month
October is National Principals Month, and we want to recognize this fantastic group of educators. “We are very fortunate to have people that are really dedicated towards our staff and all of our students and our community members to ensure that our buildings and everything happening in them are always of the highest caliber,” said Superintendent Dr. Ben Collins. “I just cannot say enough wonderful, glowing things about our eight building leaders and our assistant principals too and all the things that they do at our schools. It’s a really, really, really hard job. We are the lucky ones to have the service that they provide for us, and there’s no way that we can ever thank you enough for the job that you do.”
Financial Projections Discussion
Chief School Business Official Dr. Adam Parisi discussed the District's financial projections over the next five years. Scenarios examining the District’s fund balance projections considered factors like whether the referendum would pass in November or if it was unsuccessful.

Superintendent Update
The District’s current Strategic Plan runs through 2026. In preparation for creating a new one, Dr. Collins researched and analyzed various strategic plans from other school districts to understand common elements and best practices. When putting together a strategic plan, a point of emphasis is having clear, measurable outcomes that can drive the District’s work rather than just broad goals. The next steps include the Board and Cabinet team participating in a workshop in January to discuss the strategic plan process further. Then, in the spring, the District will work on the initial steps for a design process for a new strategic plan with the goal of the new plan beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.
