District 64 residents and the entire Maine Township community are invited to attend and participate in an evening with nationally recognized education author Will Richardson, as he presents “The Surprising Truth About Learning” at Maine East High School at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018.
District 64 is co-hosting the event in partnership with Maine Township High School District 207, East Maine School District 63, and Community Consolidated School District 62.
Richardson is co-founder of Modern Learner Media, co-publisher of ModernLearners.com and started Change.School, which offers education leaders high-level coaching for an era in which rapidly evolving technology and communication are changing the entire face and nature of learning. Richardson was recently named one of 100 global "Changemakers in Education" by the Finnish site HundrED.
He is an internationally recognized speaker and author on educational technology whose articles and essays have appeared in such journals and magazines as Ed Leadership, the New York Times and Education Week. Richardson is thought provoking on a wide range of education-related matters, including the ways in which schools need to adjust in the Internet age.
Admission to this event is free. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the program starting at 6:30. A Q&A session will follow Richardson's presentation.
